While I am doing my frame swap, I am trying to refresh some of the components yet again. So, I have the 5-speed transmission out and the bolts holding the 2 halves closed are all looking pretty rotten.
Can I loosen and replace the bolts one at a time or do I risk developing a leak at the anaerobic seal?

Bad Idea. The bolts are torqued in sequence. This will cause the case to leak if it isn't already.

Thanks. The case is not leaking currently, I did have it apart twice - once more than I wanted since I installed the differential the wrong way the first time. This was back during the DML days when I shattered the spider gear spindle. Now that you mention it, I remember there being a sequence. Glad I didn't mess with it. Guess I'll leave it until I need to open it up again. Thanks again - Dan B.
