I'm not sure that it was ever sold.
I while ago, I compiled a summary of the e-DeLoreans that I knew about at that time

The Houston conversion was sold to Google:

I got a chance to go for a ride in it. As an electric Delorean it was a nice job, but compared to purpose built electric cars it was kind of lacking. Tesla and Volt are ground up cars that blow the electric D off the road in almost every way - except that they are not Deloreans. Nobody comes up the the parking lot and wants a pic with even a Tesla, so it just not on the same cool scale. From a practicality, operability, or economic perspective though, it was a little thin. When I saw it it did not even have regenerative charging.
I'd expect that anyone who had the means to buy an electric Delorean from Houston would probably buy a nice Delorean and a Volt, and save the rest of the money for their hover conversion fund.
Now if you have the passion to build your own - I get that - but you are not doing it so you have an electric car, you do it because you want to build your own electric Delorean.

So can anyone confirm that just the one prototype was built then? Nobody ever actually ordered one?

What about that TV report that talked to one of the people who had placed an order? I think his name was Mason something. He certainly seemed ready to own, despite the $90,000 price tag and no regenerative braking.
