Hi All,
I'm going to be starting the engine rebuild on 10985 in the next month or so, and just wanted to get a feel for the parts I'll need. DMCH don't offer a rebuild kit (or even a gasket kit that I could see), so I've put this together myself, is there anything else I should be replacing?

You mean like these kits here... http://store.delorean.com/c-399-kits.aspx
There are also other kits available... If you look at a specific item in the parts catalog toward the bottom of the page you will find any kits that it is a part of.
EDIT - Apologies - You're looking for more internals...
I would call one of the DeLorean shops directly. It's possible they have kits available but not listed on the site.
Cheers

If the engine you have is in that bad a shape that it requires such an extensive rebuild, I would price things up and maybe you can find a used motor or a crate motor for less. Unless the motor was overheated into a puddle of lead or run with no oil it should not require so many parts. The PRV, even with 100,000 miles, can be "rebuilt" with a head job and still have plenty of life in it. If you have good oil pressure, no bad noises, and it isn't using oil, you should not have to touch the "bottom end".

Thanks for the feedback David,
The engine has been sat for an unknown amount of time (possibly 10+ years) and is seized. I did think about a crate engine, but it would cost thousands to import to NZ (as is, this rebuild kit will probably cost around $1,500+ to import as we have to pay taxes on the shipping as well as the purchase. I've not had any luck finding PRV parts in NZ, so the best option is to import as few parts as possible.
Ideally I'd like to have as many parts 'ready to go' before I start taking the engine apart as I can. I know also from my fathers experience with a PRV Volvo, that the cams wear prematurely, so want to replace these anyway.

You may want to check with Rob Grady. I got a factory "long block" from him that has functioned very well so far (it was properly stored, etc.). I heard he was thinking about building some engines from the mountain of used engines he has. Probably worth a call. Rob is definitely one of the experts.

Did your father have a 2.7L PRV? Those engines were known to suffer cam wear (inadequate oil passages) but this was corrected on the 2.8L PRV.

This iteration of the PRV, B28F did not have the cam problem. I would soak the motor and carefully disassemble it, you may be surprised at how much can be salvaged. Unless it was under water most of the parts should be reusable. Worst case maybe gaskets, rings, and bearings.

Peter,
in this case, I would suggest cross posting on one of the UK forums (TT Tony on Eurotec has done a lot of PRV engine work) - they have a lot more PRV parts available as you probably know

Thanx for the plug Harold and I'm working up a quote for him.

If ordering a kit from any of the vendors, be aware that it will NOT include 3 o-rings needed for the oil-pickup assembly. You'll need those.

Maybe locate a wrecked Volvo with a PRV so that you could get most parts for a fraction of the cost and replaced what really needs replacing.
I personally would just go for a different engine as the costs involved would not be worth rebuilding it.
