Ages ago, I replaced my angle drive and lower cable to remedy some wobble in the speedo between 20 and 40 MPH. I put the DMCH parts in and the problem persisted, and I left it alone.
Recently my speedo just stopped working and I have been playing around with the parts. It is sometimes hard to turn the input of the angle drive (wheel off), but when I take it all apart, each piece works fine, especially upper cable and up. I think the lambda counter clicks at high RPM. The angle drive pushes in and out of the hub nut a little, and kind of seizes up when turning sometimes. My old one does the same when I play with it. The dustcap was sealed with RTV and had not been sliding (I fixed that problem a while ago).
What I noticed is that the retainer/guide for the upper cable-to-lambda counter connection is missing. The little black thing that comes on the end of the upper cable, seen in pictures online. I am certain this is causing the wobble.
Can this piece be obtained by itself, and how hard is it to convert to bypass the lambda counter?
In the meantime, I'm going to look for a work-around.
