I know this is an unusual auto-part request; On changing the Flasher relay under the dash, I pulled the old one off and in doing so I accidentally shattered the Flasher's socket! My guess; it was brittle. The grey socket disintegrated in so many small pieces pissing me off! Anyone out there have an extra one they'd like to sell? I don't need the whole wiring harness.

I know I can just buy one or pull a socket from some other car, but I'm not interested in that! lol

Much appreciated, skill

These are common items for replacement. Mine did the same thing some time back.

If you get hold of somebody's old D flasher connector then it might also be brittle.

Get a new one at NAPA or another fine auto supply house, then butt-join the harness wires to it after cutting the old one off:

Yes, it says Hazard Flasher Connector. The hazard lights are the turn signal lights. It fits.

Thanks Rich for the info and link. I'll hold for a bit and see if someone in the dmctalk community has one they can spare. So anyone out there, help... :blackeye:

Interesting how just replacing the flasher relay and smash the connector just became particles allover the floor.

Jesus.

Things are more expensive in San Diego.

Things are expensive here and so much is going up in price it's ridiculous living here. I think we got a recent break on gasoline prices and I know that will up soon. I totally understand your view about run to Napa and get it for $5 bucks and I'm done and over with the problem. It's beyond that; I just don't run to Nappy, O'Reilos and Kraigsters for answering a quick or long-term fix on my DeLorean. I go 100% original, OEM if I can. Down to replacing a rusty screw. You can make $5, sell me yours for $10.

Maybe I'm crazy, but going out of your way to find an original part that will never, ever, EVER be seen by anyone, solely for the sake of having an OEM part is insane. Especially when a brand new, functionally-identical modern replacement is literally only a couple of bucks. (I checked... the NAPA on Market Street in San Diego has them for $4.50, and they're in stock.)

Pro: "It's ORIGINAL!"
Con: It's 30+ year-old plastic in unknown condition and has the potential to break just as easily and require yet another replacement.

I don't even think concours judges would deduct points for a replacement socket.

Side note: If CA expenses are going up as drastically as you say they are, wouldn't it actually make more sense to buy the brand new modern part for cheap rather than throwing money away on an OEM premium?

But hey, that's my opinion and it's your car. *shrug*
