Fat N Furious to feature a DMC

I just saw a promo clip for Discovery's Fat N Furious season 2 which features a delorean in a scene set to mimic Marty and Doc unveiling the time machine in the mall parking lot. I think this is the first episode which airs Monday at 10E/ 9C

When I saw the promo for the show on the 23rd. They implied that the episode was airing the following Monday. Was this not the case? I did not have access to discovery channel that night to see it. However, when I checked the DC website the show wasn't even listed.

I watched about 5 minutes of it last night. They were constantly whining and complaining that it wasn't like the traditional muscle cars they were used to working on. I went ahead and recorded it but it wore me out pretty quick.

Yeah, I was a little upset they didn't say they were going to put the car into the 11s. The most interesting part of the episode was who they got to help them.

Yeah, I must say I was a little disappointed as well......

The guest appearance by DPI was cool, but it otherwise fell a little flat. I wonder if the show got a discounted rate on the parts?? I'm also surprised that they didn't do an engine swap. I think I enjoyed the Delorean Wheeler Dealers episode much more. At least those guys sorta walked me through a rear main seal replacement. 😜

I'm still wondering how those Fat N Furious guys were able to actually fit in the drivers seat and close the door.... I'm nowhere their size and feel a little confined when in my car all buckled in.

That was obviously not the same car at the beginning as in the end. The bumper letters mysteriously disappeared from the rear fascia and the car suddenly didn't have a SPEC 1 exhaust. And it also gained the DeLorean hood emblem at the end...

The car, appearance by Josh, and the cute nerdy chick were the only things about it that I felt were worth watching....the rest was somewhat annoying and hokey.

You're not really supposed to take the show seriously. They all act over the top for fun.

In all honesty, they were quite gentle on the Delorean. I was expecting a total bash of the car, but they defiantly didn't go out of their way to demolish it's reputation or anything...at least not severely.

Highlight of the show was definitely the appearance of Josh. I cheered when he walked in because I new things were going to be done right.

Couple of things -
I too noticed the bumper letters coming and going. However there was a shot of Josh carrying in a new rear fascia so I assumed it had them originally and the new one did not. Hence the lack of letters in the last shots at the mall.
Also, it was mentioned in passing that they put a new hood on it. As grooved hoods are hard to come by... A flat hood was probably installed.
It did appear that they removed a Stainless Works muffler.
Finally, all told they sunk $22,500 into the rebuild. Not surprising as that car was rough but came out pretty nice.

All in all I thought it was pretty fair. They were respectful and even excited about it. And the one guy who wasn't sure in the beginning seemed pleased at the end with the sale price and the profit made. I think he gained a little respect for the brand.

A little late to the thread, but mine was the other DeLorean in the episode. A DeLorean owner would easily spot that there were two cars being used, but to the casual viewer, it went right over their heads. I was contacted last minute because they couldn't get Brian's car running right, so they wanted mine for all the close-ups shots (where the car backed out of the trailer and was driven slowly nearby. Brian's was still used for the high speed shenanigans tearing around the parking lot (I'm glad they didn't do that to my car!). By the way, they filmed about 15 minutes of that and ended up using only a minute of it. I learned one thing about reality shows. They're NOT real. I laughed when I saw Brian buying his own car back! But, all in all, it was a fun experience and I'm glad I got to be a part of it. What did I get out of the deal? Dinner :(
