Anyone know anything about this DMC w/ferrari looking parts?

It burned to the ground. I had heard it was arson, but never had that confirmed.

I saved these pictures years ago...no idea who to credit.

This DeLorean (VIN#03857) once belonged to a German guy. He customized it between 2000 and 2006 (as seen in the pictures) and it burned to the ground once he finished it. The owner bought VIN#02144 in 2008, this time he kept it stock. VIN#02144 was for sale again in 2014 ...

Your right, I made a little error here: the same, German owner of the above red Delorean bought VIN#02144 at the end of 2013 / beginning of 2014 in the US, a car that was for sale on Ebay US. The ad then said that the seller bought it in 2008 from the previous owner. According to my latest information, the car is still in Germany today ...

Holy cow, that is a serious fire. It almost seems like it would have to be arson to consume the entire car, from end to end, like that.

This alone seems like an electrical fire waiting to happen. Sharp stainless, spark plug wire, and no grommet to prevent cutting.

I'd also noticed the solid cover over the resistor. Hadn't people been measuring temps of the resistors with solid covers and determining too much heat was trapped? Could that be a contributing factor?

Holy crap there's nothing left! I guess that's what happens with the fiberglass underbody. Really it's a shame to lose any D at all. That one was GONE.

That's not covering the resistors? That's for the coil, and it has a nice protective peice of rubber where the cables pass out, I see no trouble with that.

They're really nicely made, Ed at DMC Europe comes up with some cracking little products.

The White ballast resistors get pretty hot and they probably shouldn't be covered, at least not too closely.
