Very cool to see new technologies being released for the real world vs. staying a lab experiment. I looked up Nunzio La Vecchia, and he has experience in Plasma energy as well.

Metallic salts is not exactly the same as salt water.
Who knows what rare or expensive "metal salts" they are using, if it's not pure BS.
Water is not an energy source, even if you put some salt in it. You have to get the energy from somewhere.
Repeat after me:
Water is burnt hydrogen. Water is burnt hydrogen. Water is burnt hydrogen.
You can't use it for electricity any more than lighting the ashes in your fire place will keep your house warm.

and my favorite
"can travel distances of 600 kilometres with a full tank of a petrol made from a salt water solution". Really. They can make petrol/gasoline from salt water.

All good points and true, however, motors can generate electricity as well. When a motor doesn't have electricity applied to it, it will generate it when being turned by some force of motion. Hybrids use braking to generate energy (regenerative braking) to store back in the batteries, and our droids, when slowing down, generate energy that in turn charges the batteries to some degree.
I agree that the statement of electric motors use the reaction to generate electricity is a bit nebulous - maybe they forgot to include something, or are keeping the real process, i.e. the invention, under their hat as to not reveal how something, that seems impossible, is achieved.

There's no chemical reaction that will extract energy from a mixture of sodium chloride and water.
What they're actually using is two charged electrolytes that are mixed together in a fuel cell to produce energy.... energy which has already been stored in the electrolyte.
Essentially it's like take a big battery, charging it, then dumping the liquid from each side of the battery into the car. There's no "free energy". Calling a charged electrolyte solution like that "salt water" is deceptive. Yes, there are salts in there....salts likely made of rare, expensive metals, and charged with a large amount of energy.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. Short of nuclear reactions, you are not going to get energy from plain old sea water.
