I have had it with that crapy lower engine cover. Every time I open is like I am about to open an egg packaging.
Then it just rests and curves up..

Then some idiot won't notice the support and presses it down... Crack!

So I did a little research and designed a stainless support upgrade with logo!
Here is what you get.

NOTE:
Drilling of the lower engine cover is required and minimum installation skills;)

Got 4 sets ready to go on which I did the hole drilling.
May need a slight adjusting. Next set will be machined to perfection.

These 4 sets are cheaper.., only for $150 SHIPPED

NEXT LOT WILL BE $215

WILL POST A HOW TO INSTALLATION GUIDE ON ANOTHER SECTION

Cheers

Great idea! If I didn't have the louvre support that holds the engine cover open, I would jump on this. Great work.

That would be the next best thing to have;)
Thank you Patric :)

This is a good solution to a longstanding problem with damage from too much force at the engine cover support area. I've been using a simpler solution to address this same problem for about ten years. I use a black powdercoated steel plate that simply bonds into the channel on the bottom of the engine cover using fiberglass resin or windshield urethane adhesive.

The advantage here is simplicity (no holes to drill), cost ($18.95), and appearance (almost undetectable so no alteration to stock appearance).
The only change that has to be made for my version of the repair plate is the center rib in the channel and a few of the mold nubs have to be ground flush, with a burr in a die grinder, to provide the flat surface needed to bond the plate to the cover.

Alexekos solution is fine if you don't mind or want to change/dress up the engine cover with another Delorean logo and drilling some holes to bolt it all together. So now there at least two or three ways to go about this repair and I'm sure there could be others. To me there is a certain elegance in simplicity so that's the route I chose but there's always a new way to "skin a cat".

Wow. Did Rob Grady just use my selling thread to promote / compare his product over mine?

As an actual one month Delorean owner I am proud;)

Guys,
Quick price drop for the first 4 sets.
80 USD SHIPPED.

I also exchanged the screws with black m5 Allen screws.
Again this is 2mm brushed stainless with Delorean logo for skilled installers.
The next batch will be user friendly ;)
