So my hood release cable broke. Thankfully the hood opened and then it broke. Anyway i ordered a new cable and went to remove the broken one but it got stuck halfway out in the housing.

Any tips here or should i just buy a new cable housing?

and yes there is a backup cable in place :)

Which way are you trying to pull it? Isn't there a ball on the end that goes in the trunk? Maybe that got pulled into the beginning of the housing accidently?

If you really have somehow stuck the loose end of the cable in the housing and cannot remove it then you need an entire new cable + housing/sheath.

Go ahead and pull v. hard on whichever end of the cable you have got hold of to see if you can get it out of the housing. Worst case is screwing up the housing.

This - you have to R&R the cable wire from the trunk end.

Yep I was pulling from the trunknend was a little hard to pull but it was moving. Then it just got stuck. I pulled hard as hell. That sucker is stuck.

Guess I'll send juleee an email to order new housing and cable

Not to be a spoiler here but as a fellow New Yorker I want you to know we also carry hood cables and are "around the block". However if you have a favorite vendor I completely understand. Julee & Dave are good people.
I'm making up a new batch of hood and throttle cables this week as the ferrules just came in from the machine shop. I had to make enough ferrules for 150 hood cables or 300 throttle cables to get a decent price so we have plenty of stock. I'd like to get this out there so we can move some inventory as my time to update the website has been so limited. Anybody else need cables as I'm drowning in them here? :)

As long as you are ordering a cable get a back-up cable and install it too. Next time you might not be so lucky to have it break when the hood is open! Should have cut the bad end clean so it would pull through before you pulled.

i took the cable housing out and with a crap ton of force after a few minutes the cable came out. new cable went in no problem. boy its annoying to get under the steering wheel with my big hands.
