Shock Tower Bolts/Plates

Maybe I'm overlooking it, but I cannot seem to find the part numbers for the plates/brackets that go between the body of the car and the frame shock tower, nor can I find what size bolts attach the towers to the body in the trunk. I was looking on DMCH site for reference but I don't see it in the frame/body section. Tried to search for it there, and here, and got nothing. I've got the plates but they're rusty, and the bolts were the wrong ones on my last frame. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

There was a thread not that long ago where we were discussing the torque on body bolts (as a somewhat regular maintenance task). It mentioned ten body bolts as well as the two seat belt bolts, making for 12 in total if you count the seat belt ones.

Six of those body bolts are these, along the sides of the frame:

Which are shown on the diagram as being for the rear sway bar and, what I would assume, are also for the shock towers you asked about.

This is a bit of an (educated) guess, so you might want to double check with someone that knows for certain.

Thanks! I was on that page and saw the M10X30/M10X40 bolts but I didn't notice that it said "4" for the rear bar so that is helpful and you're probably right that it is for the front as well. I've already sourced these @ less than a dollar a piece, over $7 each is just crazy to me. Now I just need to figure out about the plates!

There aren't any plates between the rear towers and body as there are at the front two. Are you referring to the nonserviceable washer assembly that's permanently attached to the rear fiberglass mtg holes? A picture would help here.
All bolts are 17 hex head by10 x1.5 thread with a pointed self centering tip to ease aligning them to the threads. They come in two lenght's.

Thanks for the info Rob. I'll only need the 2 front ones and 2 rears but I plan on machining the pointed tip myself. I apologize that I never did specify: the plates I am referring to are the ones in the front only, between the shock tower/frame and body, they're rectangular with a lip to fit the body contour. I can get a picture this evening if it is still needed.

Funny you should mention the washer assembly for the rear - I will need to figure something out to replace these since mine was altered: whoever did the frame work prior to me welded the nuts for the frame on TOP of the frame instead of putting the nut in the little cradle inside the rear shock tower, then removed the washer assembly from the body in order for the body fit over the welded nut (Why, you ask? I'll never know..!). Now that I have a good normal frame I'll have to fiberglass something in place I guess, haven't quite thought about it yet...

Ok yes the front plates are not a service part but I have a set laying around......somewhere? Are yours not reusable?
The rear washer set up could be easily duplicated with the proper sized tubing and washers set with epoxy. It just takes a little time and I've never had a need to replace them yet. Your PO sounds like one of my worst nightmares!!!!

Yep, those are the ones. Wish mine looked like that, I'd take even looking like the original one you have in that picture compared to what I have. Any chance you've got any of those laying around?

My plates are rusty, really pitted and look terrible. I thought it would be easier to toss them and buy replacements but since I'm learning that they're a part that I can't easily obtain, I guess I'll be back to sandblasting... And here I thought I was all done sand blasting!

I've got nothing to go by for recreating the rear section so it will be tough, but I'll make something up for it hopefully in the next few weeks. LOL yes, the PO was not mechanically inclined and that was one of the many reasons he traded the car to me, this rear section issue is just one of the many oddities (and hopefully last) requiring correction.
