As he gets more famous, hopefully demand for the LS engine swap will increase until we can finally convince him to make (or sell the designs to a vendor for) a kit for it based around what he did.

I've read his paper that he published about the swap a few times. The only thing that would be required would be the couple of custom parts that he needed to fabricate (flywheel, trans mounting plate, etc). Everything else is available elsewhere. The dimensions of those parts were not published, but if they were, the rest of us getting them machined probably wouldn't be too difficult.

Mechanically you would need the following parts:
-Engine Mounts (frame)
-Engine Mounts (block)
-Transmission Mounts
-Adapter Plate
-Custom flywheel
-Full custom exhaust (very few headers fit, I am making my own)
-All the bolts and supporting parts to put everything together.

And that just gets a motionless engine in the car.

There are also supporting modifications such as prepping the engine (GTO oil pan, intake), rebuilding the transmission to handle more power, ALL of the wiring and tuning, fuel system plumbing, coolant system plumbing, air intake plumbing, etc.

There are also supporting modifications you could get away with but not for long... such as updating the cooling system, brake system, clutch system, etc.

Putting it together as a kit means supporting this as well! Questions, problems, issues... It turns into an almost full time job!

Yes you would definitely need better brakes to haul all this extra horsepower and heft to a stop and the other upgrades you mentioned . I've been considering a project like this among others but would have to run it past my "legal department" before proceeding. Rest assured that we've got lot's of interesting stuff in the works that will come out over time.

Modifications are interesting but at what point is it still a Delorean? Doing a major change such as this you also have to have documentation. You aren't going call up a Delorean vender and order an oil filter anymore! The other BIG part is service. Yes, the LS1 is a popular motor but what if you have an electrical problem? Since much of the installation is custom, fixing things wont be easy with no experience base to draw on. The designer or installer (Nick) would know what he is doing but who else? One reason mods such as this have not become popular, the resale value is very low. It would be different if a Delorean vender did it, like the Island Turbo kits. At least then you would have someone to go to for service if you couldn't do it yourself. Even with a small (comparatively speaking) kit like the Island Turbo, part of it was the 170 MPH speedometer to go along with it. It isn't "just" a motor, it's every other system in the car being changed to work with it! From gauges to A/C to cooling, EVERYTHING! You can wind up spending more on the engine swap than another car would cost. If you want performance you can buy a higher performance car a LOT cheaper and faster. One reason I bought my Lotus Esprit. As far as performance is concerned it is everything the Delorean isn't.

Valid points David and that is why I'm looking at various options for turnkey kits with documentation. At the end of the day people can't justify such an expense in the interest of saving money. They must want it because they want a Delorean that can do what no other stock Delorean can.
Hell I just bought a beautiful 95 S4S Esprit for less than what Josh B charges for his turbo kit. His kit is outrageous but you need to want it really bad to cough up that much coin. My only problem with fast cars is I have to utilize them for their intended purpose and it got me into an awkward "sitiation" down near Myrtle beach when driving the Esprit back home from Florida last September.
Imagine the odds of a "New Yauk" car dealer with borrowed plates and no title, regie, or insurance papers (title was at Bobzilla's house 1 out of 4 ain't bad) blowing past said undercover North Carolina detective at "over one huuunnndddrrreeeddd miiiles an hour" and walking away with just a written warning.
I did. I should be a used car salesman. Oh yeah thats right... I am. Funniest part of all was the name of the town on the the warning paper.....Hurry!!!!!
Now could I sell you a used Delorean with a modified LS or a megaboosted turbo....ahhhbsolutely!

This continues to make me laugh. After the car was on National TV, it got hardly any press at all. But I post one video on YouTube of it on the Dyno and it goes crazy!! Guess that's just how the Internet works, haha!
