A trailer for my Delorean Scooter?

Good morning,

I am looking for input on the best way to pull my Daughter's Scooter to events with as little drama as possible. A pull-behind trailer perhaps? A bike rack type contraption? The scooter weighs roughly 85lbs!

Do you have a trailer hitch already on the D? It didn't come with one from the factory, however I've seen a few examples of some aftermarket frame-mounted trailer hitches being installed and used for hauling a trailer.

How much does it weigh exactly? I'm curious if a luggage rack would readily support it. Size-wise it doesn't look like a problem from the angle of the picture (hard to tell though), but depending on the weight it might be too heavy.Just be sure to mount it with the doors open so you know you'll be able to get in and out! :)

Anyways, trailer hitch and luggage rack are the two feasible options I think. Luggage rack supports at least 3 of those bikes before becoming risky. See this thread (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?6420-Luggage-Rack-Usage-Photos) for all the crazy things people haul on them. As for trailer hitches, you'll be able to haul more weight and larger volumes with them, but also have to purchase a trailer in addition to the hitch (unless you happen to have one).

Using the luggage rack makes it very hard to get to the motor if you need to. Also you can get a LOT of wind resistance and it can significantly affect your gas mileage and range. A trailer makes some sense but it is going to cost more than a luggage rack. A trailer also costs more in tolls. BUT, lifting an 85# scooter up onto a rack isn't easy. The luggage rack was not made for carrying bicycles or scooters but I suppose it could be made to carry one or 2. Another option is a lift on the back of the car that people use for handicap scooters. You drive the scooter on and then an electric motor raises it up off the ground. Last idea is just a bicycle rack on the back of the car.
