Paint code for frame

Hi Everyone,

I know you guys have access to certain brands of paint to match the frame colour. eg. Kylone Gloss Classic Smoke. But here in OZ, I haven;t managed to find this. I know our Auto Supply stores can mix and match paint, but will need a code number to do it. Not like your hardware store that you can bring some painted plaster for them to match it.

Some have used POR15 Grey which is a very close match, while I used KBS Grey which to me, isn't close enough to my eyes.

Does anyone know of a code that they have used previously to match the colour of the frame? Love to get a can premixed so I can prep and spray over the patches I had taken care of.

Even if there was a code it wouldn't be of much help, the color has changed over these many years. What you can do is crack a chip of paint off and take it to be matched. Some stores can mix paint and put it into a spray can, maybe you can find one locally.

See if any of your auto body/paint shops there in Oz have a gadget like the ones shown here:

My local body shop uses one. They used it to dupe the (unfaded orginal) color on my fascia a few years ago. Excellent match, no paint chip and no paint code needed.

(Yes, they did know to add the flex agent for urethane bumper covers like our fascias)

Thanks everyone. I'll try and find a joint that can use the scanner to pick up the colour to mix a can.
