DMC's digital door lock module: how's it supposed to work?

Hey all, I've just installed DMC's digital door lock module, but having trouble figuring out how it's supposed to work. Right now, when I lock it, it locks the other door after a second or so, and then after two or three seconds, it unlocks both doors on its own. It essentially won't stay locked. I notice there is a button on the unit with some LEDs, does anyone know what these are for? Should I have gotten some kind of documentation from DMC on how this works?

Yes, it should have some with instructions. If it's the same as the unit I have, it should have 2 red & 2 green LEDs. Pressing the button starts a diagnostic cycle. If all is good, it will flash green & go out. If there's a problem, it will flash a pattern of the red & green LEDs & you match that to the instructions to help troubleshoot.

First step is to make sure the door lock linkages are all adjusted correctly. This is critical for the lock system to work correctly. I believe these instructions also came with mine. If you didn't get paperwork, contact DMC & ask for it.

That is how it's supposed to work if one of the internal door switches isn't working. I.E. if it locks the doors, and does not sense that both locks properly engaged, it unlocks both doors to avoid burning out the solenoids/running down the battery.

If you see this, it means that one of the door switches is not making contact when locked. Fix or Adjust the switches. The Red LED is trying to tell you which one isn't working.

The button is a software reset in case something is wrong in the box, but based on your symptoms you have a problem in one of the doors.

Thanks, Justin! I'll contact Julee and see about getting some documentation. I pressed the button and only the two red LEDs lit up.

Ah thanks, Dave! That makes sense. After locking, it did seem like it kept trying to lock them before finally unlocking. I'll check the switches in the doors and make sure they're making contact.
