So I recently took apart my interior to install a new head unit. Now that I have put it back together, something is very wrong with the cigar lighter. Everything I plug inside it is seems to get ruined immediately. I've ruined 3 chargers so far trying to figure out what is going on. Does this mean I have the wires backwards on the bottom where they plug in? Or could it be something else going on?

You must have swapped the wires or your alternator is over voltage charging? Do you have a voltmeter? check the voltage center pin of the lighter to the metal wall of the lighter. Center pin should be +12 and wall should be ground.

Sounds good, i will check it out! I'm sure I just put them on backwards, I would think if my alternator is outputting too much voltage I'd have some other issues going on as well, no?

I accidentally had mine backwards & fried a FC USB charger..."blew the chip right off the board in there."

+1 on the wires being swapped. I distroyed an FM transmitter that way. I'm very careful now to confirm the wire locations!
