My mechanic had to pull the stainless T panel off the roof of the car last week to clean up some rust, but it appears that he didn't use any double side tape when he reinstalled it (or if he did, it didn't stick). He also put all new weather stripping on the doors, so I hate to have to pull off what he just glued on to adhere the panel. When I got the car back, it was sticking up about 3/8" above the doors and looked really awful. I could push it down with my hand but it wouldn't stay down. The car was transported about 150 miles on a flatbed so maybe some air got under it and lifted it. Side story: Luckily, the flatbed driver told me that he didn't pick it up at the shop, someone else from his company did, and the driver who picked it up had it loaded with the louver facing forward! Luckily, he recognized that is not the right way to tow it so he took it off and placed it on correctly before making the long drive.

Anyway, I placed a stack of books in the center of the T overnight and it pushed it down. So it isn't sticking up anymore, but it is still loose. So my question is, what double sided tape is the preferred tape and does anyone have any tips for adhering it properly?

thanks

We shim with the double sided tape and use dabs of bonding adhesive in certain accessible spots along the panel to adhere properly. Normally you would not want to glue this down but if you do it systematically it can be removed again without damage. I can send you a list of the adhesives we recommend.

Add me to the distribution list. I've got to re-attach mine.
