I am converting from auto to manual and I need to know the x-y location and size of hole I need to drill for the cross gate cable to go through the wall right behind the shifter. I have installed Martin Gutkowski's auto-to-manual shifter plate (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?1726-Auto-to-manual-shifter-plate&p=21762&viewfull=1#post21762) so everything lines up in the exact same location as in a regular 5 speed set up.
So anyone with a 5 speed: If you have the shifter panel removed (=> shifter mechanism exposed), please do me a favor and provide me with that info - please!
Thanks!

I documented my conversion here if it helps: http://ls1delorean.blogspot.com/2012/03/two-weekends-of-madness.html
I took these pictures of another manual frame when I was doing it too. They should help.

Wow, Nic, that's great! The first two pics above tell me the location of the hole and in the blog you are mentioning that the hole dia is 9/16" so that's everything I need!
Just to clarify, in the very first pic: The ruler's starting point is at the plane of a stock 5 speed mechanism, so this is a location that I have don't have yet, right? I mean, since mine is auto I have to figure out what that height is gong to be and then, based on on pic #1, go up (looks to be) 26/32" and that's the center of the hole, correct?
Either way, I think I got it.
Thanks!

That's correct, it's measured from the manual shifter mounting plate. It's more important that you have the location of the hole be correct relative to your shifter mounting plate than to the top of the frame, since the geometry of the shifter mechanism is what drives the cable location. I recommend installing your new mounting plate for the shifter, and then basing the hole location off of that, wherever it ends up.
Good luck, and I'm glad the pictures helped!
