Nightmare from previous owner. Front end issue.

Sometime is the cars history the front end was "fixed". So now i am left with what is left over. it is off by 1/2 inch.

I know the right way to fix it is cut it out and weld in a new one, but man i am dreading all of it.

As a quick fix i was going to modify the sway bar mount. Just have it slide forward a half inch.

I can't think of anything else to do.

I am happy though, i think this will explain why the car has been pulling when i go over a bump.

There is only one way to do a permanent fix and that would be to cut out the front frame extension and, using a frame jig, weld in a new section. That would be followed by priming the new metalwork and refinishing using a two part urethane or similiar paint system. In this case the right way is the only way. What is there looks so distorted and bent up that the car is probably unsafe for the road and the pulling is sure to get worse as the main structure is compromised.

It may be more practical to try to find a whole frame and just reframe the car. Trying to fix that frame, especially while it is under the car, is a big job all by itself. In the meantime refer to R:02:01-:03 and R;03:01-:03. You may want to take some measurements to see exactly what you have. Getting a crumple zone and jigging it into place assumes the rest of the frame is worth saving. Before deciding you should evaluate the whole frame for any other damage, rust, etc.

I've fixed the front end of my last frame more times than I'd like to remember. In the end I swapped frames, done and over with, no more fixing anything frame wise.
