New angle drive failure? or...

What causes this after 290 miles on my new angle drive? Did the drive itself fail or the cable?

Perhaps the drive seized up so the cable broke?

Wow! For that too happen, your dust shield must have been a Very tight fit on the wheel.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. 249 miles on my new angle drive :(

I had 1 fail like that after about 1500 miles about 2-3 years ago, but the cap was marred a little, so I needed a new one. So far, so good on the current one.

Failures like that so quickly usually indicate that the cable or cables to the speedometer are dry and dragging or frozen. Maybe the Lambda counter is seized. I would check up the line to be sure there are no issues.

I replaced the lower cable and cap. I pulled off the upper cable first, I assumed that was the issue being the the other pieces were new. It seemed fine. Do the make a connector that bypasses the counter?

Contacting the vender isn't unreasonable is it?

I'm pretty sure when the wheel is bolted onto the hub it presses on the cap to hold it tight. At least on my car that seems to be how it works.

Contacting the vender isn't unreasonable is it?They do make bypass cables. DPI sold me one after many failed attempts to make my own. It goes straight from the wheel to the speedo, so you need to remove your lambda counter for it Been running that setup with no issues so far.

As far as contacting the vendor, they may be able to help you out and figure out what the root problem is. Oftentimes they'll let you know what all you need to replace to make it work. I say try it, but don't be surprised if they don't replace the failed part on their dime.
