I am trying to find where to get the ground effect kit for the D. I love the look of the lowered car. Already have the eibach lowering springs and shocks on and will be getting new low pro rims and tires, but I think the ground effects kit will be the icing on the cake.
I can seem to find who is selling them now.
DMCH did sell them, I'd give them a call. IIRC they ran about $800-900.

great thanks.. Does anyone have it installed on their car. How good is the fitment of the fiberglass?

the thing that worries me about the kit is living in LA where every driveway or pulling into a parking lot everything is on a steep 45 degree angle or greater. My last car had a ground effects kit on it and kept scraping on everything was a real pain in the arse.
The delorean sits low and now with the eibach lowering springs it will be lower, I am afraid of scraping on everything out here.

I have the kit installed on my car - I purchased it and installed it when they were first made, I don't even remember the year, maybe '04? '05?. Anyway, they need modification to attach to the car, and of course they need to be painted. I had to repaint them once from all the dirt that kicks up and hits them - I need to repaint them again now. My car is lowered and I damaged the portion that goes under the front air dam after a while (hitting curbs, bottoming out on steep inclines/off steel inclines) so I ended up taking this particular piece off even after repair - just got tired of all the scraping. The fiberglass fits well, but is a little off here and there (some curves of the fiberglass don't exactly match the curve of the body but very close). Again, I got these years ago, I'm not sure if they changed anything after this long, but I do recommend them if you like the look....

It definitely does scrape, and gets annoying hearing it after a while...but you can always take the front portion off. Read above...

Sure, I'll post them this evening after work.

Not only do they scrape, especially on lowered cars, but also if you have to put the car on a lift or get towed. Expect them to be damaged once you start driving with them on. They look especially nice with the ground effects colored LED lighting. Most of the ones I saw did not fit well and take some "adjusting" to get them to fit well.

To go along with this, I have to use the factory jack to get the car up a few inches and then use a regular floor jack to get it to the desired height-every single time I needed to jack it up for any reason. Oil changes are horrible as I don't have a pan that is low profile enough to fit under the engine and hold the capacity of oil... A low profile jack might work but I've never tried as they are expensive...

One trick you can use to getting under a lowered car with your floor jack is to drive up on a set of 2x4's laid out on the ground beforehand. It'll give the car a little extra height to slide the jack under. Just be sure when you are lowering the car back down that the boards are still lined up under the tires.
I've always liked the look of the body kits on our cars, but everyone always brings up the same ground clearance issues. Going without the front lower spoiler is what Ive always heard is the way to go.

Nice trick, don't know why I didn't think of that sooner!
Attached you'll find my D 5003 with the ground effects kit, minus the front piece. I've got to warn you that my car looks sad in these pictures - the ground effects have not been repainted yet and my car is in dire need of a polish.:sad30:
I apologize if these pictures are too large for forum, I tried to find rules on these and didn't see any...I made them the same size as similar posted pictures.

Here are a few of when I used to live in NY, and when I first got the effects - before my UK exhaust and before I took the front piece off.

They look great, I agree with not putting the front part on, though the rear looks great with it on. i think though the skirts make the body look a little fat, if that is the right word. Don't know, will have to think about it after I put on the new rims. Let me see how it looks then before putting the skirts on.

I really like them, and want to buy them for my D!!
The only little thing about them, I wish the middle section of the ground effect, where the doors are, towards the front fenders, the front bottom, it should have had a slight angle going up, instead of straight.
Love the side skirts, the rear fascia addition looks off to me, in general not you cars specific.

It takes a certain person to like them - that's why you don't see very many Deloreans with them installed. They are made of fiberglass so if you know what you're doing, they can be modified to your preferences.
Installing these are no task for the weary, you'll spend a lot of time cursing at the old panels while trying to remove them from the body and the riv nuts are spinning so you can't unbolt anything. Then you'll need to plan how exactly to affix the new fiberglass to the car and how much hardware you'll need to do it - these aren't sold as a "bolt on" accessory (at least they weren't when I got them) - so YOU need to go get the nuts and bolts to put them on, drill the holes so they fit over the factory rocker support panels with all those pointy studs on them that originally hold the old rockers on... drill holes in the car's fiberglass under body to attach them (with some kind of sealant so water can't get on your carpet bad). And if the studs that go along the bottom of your rear fascia are spinning or broken, add a few more hours of work to your installation. Basically it takes planning and a lot of cutting, drilling, painting, gluing, sealing - and I even had to use fiberglass paste to make them "fit" perfectly with the body lines.
I'm not trying to scare people away from getting these - I absolutely love my car with this kit installed, and of course I can be reached if someone wants help or pictures on how I installed these... my point of all this is - be prepared!
I have just re-discovered these after seeing this picture.

Loving the metallic look here. Are they still available anywhere ? most of the links I have tried end up dead now.

made ground effects out of two ply rubber
baler belting from a farm store, riveted to a
aluminum angle. The rubber simply flexes
going over speed bumps. Been on over 30
years still looks good....

A few of the DMC vendors used to stock these, there must be a mould for them somewhere, might be worth a quick email to see if they would run a set off. I can't imagine they were a big seller and they must be a fairly reasonable sized fibre-glassing job, so not cheap.
I'm sure PJ Grady used to stock them some time back.
Worth a quick email.

p.s. the silver/metalic version in your photo was painted silver by the owner.

Originally DMCH was making these but they were expensive and demand was low. After some time, I think Rob Grady bought the molds - try contacting him. These came just as fiberglass pieces that need fit/finish/desired paint.
