Here's an interesting read on a car that shares many similar lines and designer.

It seems GG liked straight lines and wedges. His Porsche Tapiro design is also very similar to the DeLorean. As a designer myself, I could see him coming up with the original design in 1970 for Porsche, and they didn't produce it, then asked to design the Boomerang, so he modified the Tapiro design a little bit here and there, and only to get a concept made again, and then DeLorean coming along, GG showing him a remodified version of his Tapiro idea, and JZD going "That's it!". And I'm sure GG was happy as a clam after that, finally getting to see his idea getting past the concept stage.
We never throw out good ideas, we just put them away and bring them back out, trying again and again until someone uses it.
(I think the Tapiro design is a good start for an all electric Ford Probe to compete with Tesla...)
