View Full Version : Fuel Couple questions about fuel tank

Hi everyone;

So today I finally got my tank as clean as it's going to be. Hooray! A couple questions though :

1. There's a bolt sticking out from the bottom of the tank where the baffle connected. My new pump doesn't use a baffle. Do I just leave this bolt hangin' out in there? I've been trying to find info on it, but no go, and it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the instructions and I'm not finding reference to it in the forum, but I might be searching stupidly. How do I remove it if I'm supposed to remove it? I did not drop my tank to do this (though honestly I wish I had at this point, I really wound up making a huge mess by leaving it in).

2. That brass tube static catcher thing -- I got it snared many, many times while I was cleaning. It's bent at kind of a 45 degree angle about halfway in. I've swiveled it so it's pointing towards the back of the tank, though from my inspection camera it looks like the middle dips about halfway down the tank (the 45 degree angle) then bends back up 45 degrees again so the end tip is probably more or less where it's supposed to be.

Does this matter? Should I replace it? I hear a lot of varying stories about the static catcher, sounds like as long as it's in there somewhere it doesn't matter too much how it's aligned ... but I'd like confirmation :)

Thanks guys!

1. I would leave it in place in case you ever want to go back to the standard baffle setup
