Another Stage 2 thread..

So I've been getting a lot of questions about my car, and particularly my engine. I tell people that my car has gotten the Stage 2 upgrade, and then as always theres a follow-up question "what is stage 2"

Can someone here simplify a good response to that question. I mean theres a lot of things that goes into a stage two upgrade, so besides saying an increase in HP to 197 (I know that is disputable, and not correct at the wheels, but regardless).. What else should I mention, torque? and what are the numbers? What is a quick response summary on a stage two upgrade that I can tell the random guy on the street?

Any suggestion and help is appreciated :)

DMC lists these as their Stage II engine mods - the quick answer is the first 4 lines if you indeed have what DMC calls Stage II

There should be a signed plate on the left bulkhead indicating the Stage II. Basically it is a stock motor with some enhancements consisting of mainly camshafts and headers to improve breathing. Gets a few more HP.

I'd say the quickest thing to say is: "top end work", then you can see if they are car people. If they ask what that means, then you can say cams, heads, intake, and exhaust.

When people ask me about my engine I usually walk them to the back and show them. I have a turbo/EFI.

If the guy asking is a smoker, tell him your car got the equivalent of a double lung transplant and it breathed new life into it. Relate it to something day-to-day and even non-car guys will get it. Then tell the car guy who might have asked more about the specifics, but otherwise, that'll be all Joe Public needs to hear.

Or say it's like replacing the burner elements on your 10 year old BBQ...

Or doubling the RAM on your 3 year old computer...

BTW as we know the 197HP is highly disputable but what about the torque, how much do you increase/get with the Stage 2 upgrade??
