We have been sold our of our 5 Speed Gated Shift Plates now for 6 months. We've gotten a few requests for them lately, but want to test the waters on a production run of these. We're going to offer a pre-order discount price for these kits for $226.95. If we can get at least 10 pre-orders within the next week, we will proceed with a production run of these. Link to order Here (http://www.dmoco.com/products.html).

I sure like the look, but pretty spendy......

After how many of these have been made and sold before, are pre orders still really necessary?

We want make sure there is enough interest before making a run of these. This is the same price we've sold them for at least 3 years. If you haven't seen this on a car before, it is very complete kit and the stainless is a very substantial piece of metal.

Has anything been done to improve shifter and plate fitment issues with these? I bought one years ago and it was a pain to try to get in gear with the plate installed. I could never get it to work without scratching the heck out of the shifter either.

The look of the plate was awesome though! I would buy another in a heartbeat if the fitment issues have been resolved.

The problem is more likely in your car than the plate. The only way to make the plate "universal" is to get rid of the gating, which seems to be the part everyone likes. I believe he already made the patter larger once to make it easier, and then people complained about that.

You need to have good/fresh bushings in the linkage, no slop in the crossover linkage, a good cable with no fit issues, and perfect adjustment both on the cable and the linkage rods.

The OEM setup is more forgiving, but if your leather boot is all cut up on one side or the other it's the same problem.

Our orders this week for pre-orders on the Shift Plate were very slow. In one last effort to make this production run happen, we are going to offer a larger discount on pre-orders. Our new pre-order price for the Gated Shift Plate Kit is $196.95. This is $30 lower than last week. We still need 8 more orders. We'll run this discount for one week, ending Aug 2nd.

One thing that has always bothered me on these plates is the incorrect DMC logo. If the proper logo was used (note the width of the M and the spacing of the M in relation to the D and C), I would be more inclined to get one. Just my $.02

Good feedback Patrick. When we started making these kits more than 8 years ago, we used the original DMC logo to start with. Due to the small size of this logo the laser annealing process we use to put the logo on stainless was washing the letters together, and it ended up looking like a big block of black, rather than a clean technical lettering. We corrected the weight of letters and spacing to make the logo more legible on the part. The lettering is very similar to what was used on the original DMC emblem that was on the original Auto Shifters.

Installed my new shifter plate today. Beautifull in every way. My problem is that I can not get into 5th gear. The plate is blocking me.
Reverse works fine.
Where do I adjust linkage to adapt it to 5th gear?

At the transmission; you have to adjust the location of the cross shift cable linkage by A. Adjusting the location of the 2 nuts on the cable where it passes through the bracket at the transmission; or B. adjusting the clevis inward or outward (always start with method A). But be careful, even with just a normal shifter boot, the window of adjustment within which both 5th gear and reverse work is very small. Now your window is even smaller (assuming it exists). You may adjust it enough to where the plate now allows 5th gear, but then the shifter mechanism will cause you to loose reverse. Move it slowly; tiny adjustments (1/4 and 1/2 turns) can make large differences.
