Hi,
Has anyone else encountered a failure with the Toby Fan upgrade? I had noticed that my car wasn't staying as cool as it usually does at idle the past two months. Last weekend, the fans were barely turning and making a strange sound during the second half of the day of driving. The next morning I could not get the fans to turn on. I tested the relays, socket and wiring, as well as the voltage at the connectors (11.5). I think applied 12 volts to each fan. 1 fan did nothing while the other fan spun up but then quickly declined in speed until it stopped all together (and will not turn on again).
I reached out to DeLorean Parts North West to see what their limited warranty covers, but in the meantime I wanted to know if anyone else had their upgraded fans fail? Thanks!

No, I haven't had any issues with mine. I've had them on for about three years and maybe 10k miles.
How long have you had them for?

Did you ever drive through deep water?

I have had mine for exactly 5 years and probably around 30,000 Miles.

No deep water driving. A big puddle here and there in NJ where roads are uneven but nothing where I would have to slow down because the front end would be in water.

If they are not under warranty, send me the motors and I will pull them apart and determine why they failed. Maybe can even fix them. Of course I would post photos of why they failed.

Dave, thanks for the offer! I will certainly due that and hold off on ordering new fans in case they can be fixed (that would certainly save me a bunch of money). Send me a PM as I forget your address.

I've been running mine since 2010 with no issues.

Which fans do you have? Tobys fans changed a couple of years ago. If they're 5 years old, they could be either. Do you know if the blades are straight or curved? The current ones are the straight blade fans (I have these). If you have the older curved style, it could be that there was a known failure leading to the change.
Still, a lot can happen in 5 years; hard to know for sure without investigation.

The blades are curved, so the early style is what I have.

So it turns of that I have the straight blade type. I thought the s style was because the blades are curved. I have attached pictures of what I have.
I am waiting to see if the limited lifetime warranty will cover the random failure.
