Rolled up my drivers side window on Saturday afternoon, and something I could only describe as "fuzzy" or a "felt-like" material came up out of the inside of the door with the glass. Part of it is still attached inside the door. Not sure what it's called, but pretty sure I'll need another one. I've looked on the parts diagrams and think it might be an inside drop glass seal (Part #:106063 INTERIOR DROP GLASS SEAL). Does this sound like the right part from the description?

Yes but the original seal won't stay together long. You'll need to seperate the "felt" from the support channel and rebond it using windshield urethane or rubber glue for it to stay put for any length of time.

Rob... that's looks to be a $15 part. Should I just plan to replace it? I've got a car show this weekend, so I'll get creative for the weekend and do something more permanent on the following Monday.

This is what I did to correct the window felt issue. I found these "wipe strips" that I pop riveted into place. They won't be coming off.

I can't remember the part number off hand, but start here:

I did the same repair listed below...great results. Window even stays more secure when down and closing the doors.

I replaced mine recently (passenger's side early this season and driver's side last season) and had noticed the felt was starting to poke up from below the edge of the trim.

I had thought it was the U channel rotating down somehow, like the whole thing moving. Figured I would just go back in and reposition it and glue it in place.

That's not what the problem is though. It's exactly what Rob mentioned. At a number of places (mostly near the front of the strip closer to the mirror) the felt is coming away from the U channel. Looks like the solution is just what Rob mentioned.

I only thought the felt / seal was my biggest issue. Rolled my drivers side window down last night and it stayed down. Motor is running, no glass moving.

Took the interior trim panels off the door and found that the plastic tube on the window regulator was busted and the traveling coil that moves the glass was all bunched up in a knot in the bottom of the door. Looks like I'll be in the market for a new window regulator.

Speaking of regulators.... any particular one better than the other?

DMC and DPI have them for right around $339. Hervey has one for about $275 +/-. Both choices look to be all metal with no plastic to break. Anybody got any experiences with either?

I'll just leave this here...

That price is for the pair, BTW. Keep in mind, you will need to modify the bracket a little.

I have heard that this is the exact company the vendors get theirs from, all they do is make the modification for you and charge an extra $100 or so per side to save you the trouble. Is it worth the extra coin? Well, that's all up to you, friend.

How important is the felt in the first place? I am pretty sure it's already gone on my PS door, but haven't noticed any leaks or issues with the window. The outer rubber strip along the bottom of the drop glass seems to still seal everything OK with the window up.

Can someone explain the need to replace the felt?

Keeps the glass from getting scratched up and the glass from shaking around. You can also use a piece of the fuzzy side of a strip of velcro.
