Door Lock removal

Ok, so Im going to get new door locks (not the motor part..key key part).

I looked around online, but couldnt find anything telling the steps to properly remove the door locks.

Im prepping my doors to have new window regulators and locks installed, without having to pay the labor for removal of the parts.

There is no specific procedure in the Workshop Manual telling you step-by-step how to remove the key lock in the door. Remove the panels and there is a clip inside the door holding the cylinder in place. Be VERY careful inside the door, all of the edges of the S/S are very sharp and can cut you up easily. Put duct tape over them. Refer to 8-4-1 in your Parts Manual. If you have the older 2 key system discuss this with your vendor as to what you need to do to convert to the 1 key system.

Im not worrying about one key system, as ill be eventually adding keyless and all the fun bits.

Yep, that's it. The horseshoe shaped part. I found that when changing my locks out, that the steel connection rods are easily bent which in turn had them slightly rubbing parts of the door internals...so for every bump in the road was an annoying rattle. Took me taking the door apart twice to fix that.

Thanks. Saving the locks for last, since it's started raining the last couple days and dont wanna get water in there..hehe.

Believe it or not, the doors are made for water to get into them. That's why there is a plastic water shield inside and holes in the bottom of the door. The weatherstripping on the movable window is not watertight and some water gets in.
