New DMCH Ignition Switch Feedback

I am in need of a new ignition switch. I bought a new one from DMCH a few years, not NOS, some kind of aftermarket or something. When I got it it did not fit right. I was told by DMCH that I had to slightly modify it by grinding or filing the metal to fit good, which in turn the ignition switch broke, fell apart.

They took them down off the website after, stating they were no good.

I see they have new ones on the website http://store.delorean.com/p-6848-ignition-switch.aspx

I was wondering if these fit good like the original and are not like the one I bought a few years ago for so much and fell apart.

With standard air shipping to the US it is about $165 - which is only about $6 more than the re-manufactured one from DMCH when you factor in tax and shipping.

Look at the one from Ed at DeLorean Europe and this one side-by-side they look about the same to me, except the purple wire is missing on the "new" one. But I don't know if Ed's one is the same as the one DMCH supplies.

My buddy Ryan got one from DMC and it looked just like the old one. It went in easy enough.

Side note: Why does DMCH have a link below every picture that says, "View Larger Image", but when you click on it, the image is the EXACT same size?

Hehe..I noticed that too....and the 'zoom' picture that shows the parts is often still unreadable..hint right click - save as and view externally if you want to see the little numbers.

I got a replacement switch back during the Lexington DCS show. I had to swap two wires, but it went in no problem and has been working fine ever since. Not sure if those switches are the same as what is being offered. I was told it was a crossover to a Rover switch.

I'm like the only problem with these damn things is that they don't go in far enough to get screwed in. So I was thinking that I'll just cut off what I need from the old switch and apoxy it to the new one. I know it's not perfect but I'll see how it works out. I did scratch up the metal casing for a better chance that it will hold.

Well my thought didn't work out. So out of desperation after cleaning it up. I took a wood clamp just to hold the switch in tight I was able to get the screw to grab. So the new switches do work there just a little bit of a pain. One thing I found out was the switch needs to be reset for every try at startup. It only needs to go back 1 click.
