Things can also fall on the car, there is the possibility of fire and theft. Ultimately that is what insurance is for. Even if the car is not drivable you can still have insurance on it for losses.

I once had a landscaper's dump truck roll into my Living Room when his E Brake slipped. Made for an exciting Saturday! Here in the New York area you hear at least once a week a car going into a store or a house sometimes hitting people and trapping them. Unfortunately it seems to be getting more common. The car's owner is responsible and their insurance should pay for all of the damage with NO deductible to you. You can also take whatever emergency repair is necessary without approval to prevent further damage. Probably need to put in some temporary supports to keep the front wall from falling down. Will be required anyway because the repair will require removing and replacing that center wall. Because it involves structural you need a permit and when the inspector sees this he will probably condemn the garage. All of this needs to be done VERY carefully and immediately to prevent the garage from collapsing on your cars before you can get them out.

He filed a claim with his insurance company and since they're taking their sweet goddamn time doing anything about it, I filed a claim with MY insurance company to get the ball rolling and start inspections and repairs.

The thing to do is file a "Claim of Record" with your company and hire a contractor to stabilize the structure and get everything out. In the meantime you file a claim against the car's owner's insurance company. Get a claim #. If they won't act quickly tell them you will report them to the State insurance board and sue the car's owner for damages. Your company will also string you out AND take the deductible out of you. Then they will add this to your loss record and your premiums will increase.

This looks like older construction, which in my opinion was probably better. They don't make em like they used to. Had it hit the door, it would have gone right through it. Actually if it had to happen, that is a great spot to get hit. It's not an overly strong area of the house, because it is a relatively small support over a major header, but all things considered faired pretty well.
