Updated Window Actuators....help..

Has anyone actually put in the updated window actuators from DMC?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to this square peg to go into the round hole...

I can get it mostly in..but it seems like the guide that goes up to the window doesnt want to turn and get up there..and then the whole thing is
stuck and I have to play to get it back out. I dont want to damage the rod or anything getting it in there.

If anyone has really good explaination of how its done (the installation pamphlet doesnt really help)...or someone in the seattle/tacoma area who knows
and can come lend a hand?

Worse case, I'll pay DMCNW to pound these in for me...but rather not spend $120/hr if I can avoid it.

If like mine, separate the track from the motor using the 3 screws. Then super glue the plastic spacers to the track or motor, reassemble in the door. It's a pain, but it does go in... Eventually. The brackets attach differently than the stock unit, but unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of my installation.

I actually got one in. Had to take out the Grab handle bracket. Not sure why that made so much a difference, but it slid right in after that.
Of course, getting the screw into the grab handle bracket and reattaching it were a pain because there is very little play in the new actuators.

My advice to anyone else...dont tighten the offsets to the body until after you get that screw in.

Of course, now I have to wait to do the passenger side until I can get the door opened by dmcnw (its quite stuck).

I thought about taking it apart as you mention...prolly would have if it hadnt dropped in when it did.

Or type 'delorean window regulators' in YouTube and look for the one by Martin Gutkowski, really useful when fitting the new regulators.

I got the driver side in...yaay...almost...

Its in, wired up, switches work.....but...

the guide channel is off..and when the window is fully up the end is out..and it hangs so it wont go back down...now I have to figure out how to
slightly bend that thing...grrrr

Solved..Mostly....

I had the z brackets in the wrong hole...once I fixed that, the guide and everything went together just fine.

Only problem is that the front of the glass seems to drag and it wont raise straight. Is there a lubricant or something I need to use?

Hi guys,

I'm refurbing the doors currently and part of that is new window motors. I have the same lubricant question on the drop window guides. It seems like they were originally dry. Were they, and should I lube them? If so, I was thinking white lithium grease, or silicone? It seems like grease would last longer. :headscratch:

What is the best thing to do?

a dry silicone lubricant is best..thats what I used
