Tons of NOS parts on eBay. Some NLA

Found many parts being sold on eBay and wanted to share. I snagged an NOS washer bottle and mirror switch as I don't like the new DMCH switch, and my washer bottle is cracked. I believe he will be listing more parts in the future.

I saw some of the parts for sale by this person. The prices seem high and the shipping costs are a little unreasonable. I wanted to buy the car cleaning kit, but wanted $25 to ship it.

Agreed, his prices are too high. Some of the stuff is less expensive through the vendors. For example $375 +shipping for taillights. you can buy them for $300

I don't know who these sellers are trying to sell to. Most DeLorean owners are fairly knowledgable about parts prices. Most of us are looking for a good deal, so will never pay MORE then what the vendors are selling them for.

Yes, BUT. If you are looking for original NOS parts, not reproduction, and in good shape you would pay more than for a reproduction or poor quality part. Some people are always looking for good NOS stuff for Concours competition. Some are just anal about some things too. Point is there are some out there that will pay more than market for some parts and some sellers are more than willing to take the extra money.

It also must be the logic behind the pricing @ Beverly Hills Car Club. No matter what the shape a car is in, it must be worth more because what's left of it is "all original" with no aftermarket parts. :rofl:

Yes, his prices are VERY high, but this is acceptable if it is an NLA part. Am I a concours guy? No, FAR from it, but some original parts go with the car. For example, the mirror switch. I just don't like the one DMCH sells, and to me, it looks tacky in a DeLorean.

As for his other parts, he can have them for those prices!

That dealer is trying to sell to a market that many times is naive about actual market pricing and will buy impulsively. They will take advantage of that. Not too long ago they were trying to sell a bunch of panels they called a car!

Even the rare NLA parts are mostly overpriced and the asking price on available items is sometimes 3 to 5 times list. There are no bargains there.
Someone plans to retire off this inventory. I'd ignore him.

Well They are NLA many times over (Bosch has changed their frame style many times since) and would be great for a concours car but $150- for a 34 year old set of blades seems a bit rich.
The shocker is some of the common stuff with the crazy markup like the red igntion wire set for $125-. DMC dumped these on the original dealers in the parts "kit" and they were already surplus crap in 1981. I have thrown out at least 50 sets of these over the years because they arc out from day one.
Every inventory I've bought usually had a few sets of them to dispose of. The guy may as well hang out in a dark alley and say;
"Pssst....hey buddy would you like to buy my defective wireset for the bargain price of $125-?" Jeez I couldn't even sleep at night if I did that!

I just buy the $12 wiper set from DMC-NW. I believe the dealers recieved Trico brand wipers. I just assumed that's what this ebay auction was. But maybe these are the Bosch Factory ones. It's hard to tell since they are still in the wrapper.

In this case a set of 30 year old wiper blades is not worth much unless you need the original blade holders. There usually is no need to replace the whole thing, you can buy refills and slide in new blades. Maybe the seller thinks because it is still in the original wrapping it is worth more? In any case you really do need to know what you are buying and what you should pay when you enter an auction. Otherwise you WILL overpay.

They are definately the Bosch units and if I still had my concours car I'd be interested myself but I had a new set on it anyway. The part #100809 is correct and I could tell they were genuine from the zoom in view. Still...$150- for a set would be too dear for me.

The later Trico blades were only fitted to some 82's and all 83's but I never liked their appearance or their performance even when new and they are NOS so they can't have aged like fine wine. The new Bosch blades are a bit more but are vastly superior.

I just got another NOS Bosch set in a complete parts inventory purchase anyway along with two of those crappy red ign. wiresets. The blades I'll keep for another garage queen I may buy but the wiresets will go in the dumpster unless anybody wants them. Sorry no free delivery!

What cars were the red wire sets fitted to? Bougicord was the main supplier if I recall. Did the dealers install the red ones? Oh I saw you said they were given to dealers as a part of their parts supply.

No cars I ever saw when new had them. Some were installed by dealers because that's what DMC sent them as service replacement parts.
