Hi everyone,

My name is Michelle and my husband is a huge Back to the Future and Delorean fan and I wanted to surprise him with a ride in a Delorean for his birthday (which is coming up on October 22). We are just outside of Toronto, Ontario. I was hoping someone could help me out with this or point me in the right direction!

Thanks so much,

Michelle :-)

Whereabouts outside Toronto, Michelle? East, West, North? There are cars in pretty much all those directions from London to Guelph to Arthur to Caledon to Hamilton to the GTA, Markham, Port Hope, etc.

The bigger Back to the Future fans on or about October 22nd are likely going to be in California though celebrating the We're Going Back stuff. Most cars will still be in town here and so long as the weather hasn't turned crappy, won't be put away for the season quite yet.

Hi Jonathan, We are in Georgetown actually. I understand that most BTTF fans and cars will be down in Cali, if we had more money we'd be there too! :-)
I was hoping that if someone in the area is staying at home, that they will be willing to help me out!

No problem. I'd say there are no less than ten different cars within one hour from you in Georgetown. The October date won't be an issue with the California event. I have not heard of very many owners gong themselves, and other than one particular car, I can't see any of them driving their Ontario car to California for this event. That's just not practical. You might actually benefit from the timing as if someone wanted to arrange it with a local theatre showing the BTTF movies on that weekend, it could be a fun surprise.

I would suggest getting a message on the Facebook group page. The forum here seems to be more for technical/fix the car stuff and FB seems to be more for events and sharing photos and stuff. Not a lot of Ontario owners post much on the forum here of late. The FB group is private, so to get a message posted, I would suggest you email: [email protected] and he can share it with the group to try and find you a helper.

The website you can look at other links and info is here: http://odoc.ca/

And one of those links I just noticed is the Time Machine for Hire site. I don't know about costs, either what they charge or what you would be comfortable with. A lot of these things I tend to think are just nice things to do for people and I personally wouldn't charge anything, but the cynical side of me where people don't tend to help each other much without having something in it for themselves means not many owners are going to jump for the opportunity to provide their car with the potential for damage, that being covered by insurance or not. This is just my take on it and I've never rented my car out for anything like this, with me in it or not. If a friend of mine or someone I know asks me what you asked, I do it in an instant without much more thought. I just don't know how much we all share that same helpful instinct when it is for someone no one knows.

Good luck and post back here what you figure out. I hope/trust you'll have better luck than what might come from my tainted view on things.
