Temperature Gauge Bouncing Around

My temperature gauge has been bouncing around lately. It seems to show the proper temperature when working but it might suddenly drop to zero then swing back and forth. I haven't checked connections yet but wanted to see if anyone has had this issue and found out the cause.

It is probably a bad connection either at the sender unit or in the binnacle.
