Browsing around Google Earth today I found myself over the Marriot in Dayton and saw this. 37193 Not sure whether to be excited or nervous from the surveillance

I think the point is that Google just happened to be updating their satellite imagery on the particular day that DCS was being held, so the parking lot is full of DeLoreans.

As far as surveillance goes, Google earth is but a drop in the bucket. But I wouldn't call that "surveillance" in the common sense of the term where you're looking to track a specific person. Not even with how the morning and afternoon traffic reports are calculated either.

Anyway, from the imagery. The fly over shot was taken Saturday June 14th 2014 about 8:00 AM in the morning based on the shadow casting of the trees nearby ( almost due west) All the bricklins are by there show tent and the White DJ van is parked midway next to the long tent.

Dude, these areal photographs are measured in miles. Google sources them from various outlets, and also updates them continuously. When they do go for an update, it has to be on a day where there is zero cloud cover, and as much sunlight as possible. Not to mention you have to have a camera available to take the photo itself. If it's a satellite, you've got to time the flyover just right to coincide with the weather and the time. The last previous photograph of the area before this one was almost a year prior, and it had bad light. Plus these two are the only high resolution ones they have. It appears that Google might have had 4 previous capture attempts in the months up to this final picture that happens to coincide with DCS.

Even under the remote possibility that someone really wanted to capture the car show on purpose, for whatever reason. What could possibly be the significance of that to even ask why?

I get that the odds of the photo capture are astronomical. It's an amazing thing that it got published. I was not questioning that.

I was merely asking why someone would want to zoom in on the Marriott hotel in Dayton, OH recently on purpose? It's been over a year since that show. I can't think of any reason I would want to look at that location. Unless, I had inside information that was not public knowledge and told to check it out or I was planning on attending an up coming function at that location and wanted to see where it was.

So after rereading the OP, I see that the person was just browsing around the Dayton area and accidentally stumbled upon the hotel and recognized the parking lot was full and that the tents were setup in the back area. That does standout out prominently.
If the person had attended the show it would be quite recognizable.
