It will convert the 4 pulse per revolution (V8 ) signal from the engine to the 3 pulse per revolution signal (V6) that the DeLorean's dash needs.

EDIT: They must have updated this product. When I bought it for my car, it was all dip switches and blinking LED's to program it. Now it has a digital display and costs $20 less!

Yep that's mine. I'm half-heartedly selling it as work is one of those things that come and go for me- being in software and product design, it's project to project- some short term and some longer. So I have this and my Honda Rune up- hoping to sell the Rune first and then pay off some debt- and I can maybe keep the DeLorean.

On how it was mated to the trans, me too. I do have info on the original owner who was from Illinois (thanks to my certificate from the DeLorean Museum) and am hoping he's still alive and well. The guy I bought it from had it registered in SD, but never had it there as he planned on moving, but got too old and thus the car being garaged for 20 years.

I believe it uses one of the bellhousings that Don Steger had made in the 80s/90s. They were rare back then and are practically non-existent now.

I also have one of these bellhousings---found it "new in the box" in Carolina----I am in the middle of installing a 327 engine in 2126---most everything is now "mocked up"---motor/trans mounts built, flywheel drilled for Delorean pressure plate, pilot bearing adapter made, wiring modified, shifter linkage modified, etc. About ready for the engine to go to the machine shop----plan on a balanced assembly--forged 11:1 pistons, Isky cam, aluminum heads, intake, headers, etc. Hope to have it roadworthy by next spring.

I couldnt tell from the picture, what what sized flywheel does this adapter use? Must be at least a 153T. Using a gen2 sbc and this adapter would sure make things go a lot smoother.

Uses 153 T flywheel----only problem with this adapter to SBC is the clutch slave can not mount similar to original---no room at the rear of the block---I have built a bellcrank system that mounts the cylinder on top of the trans---this transfers the push cylinder motion to a pull setup to the clutch throwout fork.

Your car/installation really looks nice---like the headers----what type mufflers did you use???Space is really tight.

I wonder what other guys did... As Nick mentioned there are a few of these adapters out there. I know the Buick V6 uses one of these.

Nick and I are using the same mufflers... 12" Dynomax Bullets. They sound very, very good. They would sound different on a Gen2 as apposed to a Gen3/4 as they use a different firing order.

Be careful with that bellhousing. If you are installing the engine with the mounts all the way at the rear of the car (like the Buick), look at how far it is from those to the trans mounts. I've seen that bellhousing crack from the stress. It would not be a bad idea to engineer a center mount location as well.

I've wondered about that. After seeing quite a few chevy 621 bellhousings crack, I was curious how much support that bellhousing gives. The fact that the original DeLorean bellhousing has so many ribs and gussets for strength has always given me comfort.
