A Delorean just listed on eBay has this device. Anyone understand what it is, and what they are trying to accomplish with it?

It makes no sense to cut a fuel filter into that hose.

A filter in a vacuum line can be used to dampen any swings in vacuum (such as for a Megasquirt MAP sensor), but I can't imagine what this one could be for.
