I heard someone was looking to "rent" a bunch of Deloreans in NYC. Not sure if this is the same gig, or what the details are. Or if the delorean owners are expected to be lyft/cab drivers for a day.

I saw this too. A co-worker sent me this article: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/lyft-offer-free-delorean-rides-new-york-wednesday-article-1.2403402

According to the article:

Lyft is not sharing the number of DeLoreans that will travel around the city, but it did say the cars are being shipped from all over the country.

Is anyone shipping their car to New York for this? I can't imagine there are many business owned DeLoreans so if this is true, it must be that they've got private owners on board. Anyone on this forum?

On a side note, as cool as this may sound to some fanatics, its a bummer that it can only be experienced individually (being that the cars are 2 seaters).

A co-worker just started moonlighting as an UBER driver... We joked about how fun it would be to do pick-ups in my DeLorean. However UBER has a strict rule about the age of the cars for hire. Also there's the two seat thing as Nicholas mentioned and of course no room for luggage so no airport runs.

Cheers
Steven

They contacted me about being the "Resident wrench" for the day but I decided the twelve hour shift they wanted combined with the travel time would be too much time away from work. They found someone else....probably from the DMA.

Are the car owners driving? I would have a hard time just handing my keys over to a total stranger to drive my car around NYC all day, I don't care how much money they pay me.

As far as I know the owner is the driver just like "Uber" but this event is run by "Lyft" and sponsored by Verizon.

I suggested they call you, they said you had a "prior commitment"... Sent you an email about it, not sure if that commitment is a secret??

Owners have the option of driving their own cars, or using one of their "professional drivers".

Well I didn't have a definite commitment but now I do and it's too cool to pass up. Because I hooked them up with Bill and Patrick Shea and their "Time machine" they invited me just ten minutes ago to go backstage and say hi to the Shea's and whomever else is about at that time. Jimmy K's assistant even wants to swap a Kimmel T-shirt for a P.J. Grady one...should I hold out for two? ;) I don't really feel too guilty about taking a half day off because I've worked the last 30 days straight to try and get caught up. I know Josh B. wouldn't approve since it's BTTF related but I think it should be very interesting to be behind the scenes for a little while.

Exciting!! I am having a bit of FOMO anxiety... Sounds like you will have a great time at Kimmel. Is Shea doing the Lyft deal too? They implied there would be one BTTF car in the fleet.

Hopefully they at least put your web site in the scroll at the end of the show.

He would have to be in two places at once but that is no problem for a time machine. However I believe your answer was answered in the recent past. Please excuse me now I have to go back to the future.

it was a great experience to do the lyft thing here in new york city. met a lot of guys from the DMA club and had a lot fun seeing 7 deloreans turning heads in midtown.

The passengers had a blast too. Shame traffic was way worse than usual Don't think i ever got out of first except for when i was heading back to our lyft "base" because i had to pee and i drove like a total nyc asshole in traffic. Two days later and I still cant feel the toes in left foot.
