ok just bought a delorean and trying to get it driving, it starts fine and run idle, but when you give it gas it start sounding like it wants to stall out. what tests can i do to determain and track down the problem. I know it could be a lot of things but need to know how to really figure out what exactly it is, do not want to just start pulling and replaceing things needlessly.

Make sure all the vacuum hoses around the warmup regulator are connected per the diagram on the engine cover.
Then you will need to verify that the vacuum switches are actually working.
Then you'll need a fuel pressure tester to verify that the warmup regulator is working correctly.
Then, 95% of the time, you'll replace the warmup regulator.

Is it an automatic? Or do you mean is wants to stall in neural?

it is stick and yes stall in neutral if you give it gas.....runs idle pretty good though

Old gas. Mixture miss adjusted. Those are the first things to check.

Do you hear the frequency valve on the R/H valve cover buzzing? Is there a plug in the hole in the mixture unit on top by the air intake? Are any vacuum hoses disconnected?

ok does seem like a quite large vacuum hose is disconnected but i think it was disconnected on purpose because it seems like all the air is coming from that vacuum hose as the air plate on the top of the engine after you take off the filter seems to stay shut even when you try to rev up......also i would like to apologize early for my ignorance kinda getting into engine stuff with this project car(got to start somewhere right)

The air plate should move smoothly and easily when the throttle opens.
Reconnect the open vacuum hose you found and see how things go.

Post a photo of the large disconnected hose. It may not be what you think it is. Air does not come FROM a vacuum hose. Air is drawn into a vacuum hose.

Someone had disconnected the large vacuum hose from the idle control valve going into the throttle plate. We fished it back in...and she revs like a charm. :) There are now 2 running deloreans in the state of RI (mine and his).

Ah, well that would do it. I'm glad you were able to assist him in person.

Yes, cpistocco was kind enough to come by with his Delorean, and took a little back and forth comparison but we got her running and adjusted the throdle to idle a little richer and it runs now in idle and refs and drives.....will be a bit more work before she is road ready but getting closer now.....thanks cpistocco had a good Halloween thanks to you.....here are some pics
.....lol

How are things going with the car? Are you still doing the BTTF conversion?

Everything is good, haven't started with conversion, but plan is to still convert it. Just got to get my fabrication cap on and find the time. I did regrain car and the black striping pads made that part super easy, the red scoch brite pads just would have taken too long. I did finish up with red pads though and think it came out great. Though the tiny imperfections are more noticeable now. How are you and your son doing, happy holidays!

My son and I are doing great...Thank You for asking. I hope that you and your family are well. Please keep me up to date on the car. I have a rock screen/ lower grille that I would like to give you. Consider it an early Christmas gift! It is used...but still good. :)
