I drove the DeLorean to work today. Several employees wanted to take pictures of it. This heavier set guy went to sit in it and CRACK, something broke.

When he went to sit down, he put his weight on the bolster and the top part of it popped out. It looks like a screw with a washer was holding it in place from the back side of the panel.

What kind of hell on earth am I going to go through to get this fixed? Do I need to follow the steps outlined in the following thread?

Yep, that's 1 of the 1st repairs I made to my car. That bolster is actually riveted on from the back, if I recall correctly.

Use a hair-drier to heat the glue & peel the vinyl from the door frame. It's tedious, but not horrible difficult.

Sounds like there's fun to be had in the near future. It's frustrating to have this happen on a day that was so full of promise.

While you're in there, may be time to upgrade your rear speakers!

Just checked store.delorean.com to see if the newer style (one piece) trim pieces are available, but it looks like they only have the right side in black available.

Without referencing the PO's parts purchased list, I am 95% sure that the rear speakers have already been upgraded.

Since I have a paid event for the DeLorean on Saturday, I probably won't attempt to fix it until after that.

Ok in that case, you'll be able to confirm at least one speaker was replaced.

Good luck with the repair.
