Hi all! Recently I did the dreaded swap of the fuel accumulator, but I ran into a major problem. The metal high pressure fitting started to leak. First, I barely tightened it, then I added more and more pressure. Now, it still leaks. Should I just ditch the metal line and put a fuel injection hose from the accumulator to the filter? Thanks.

If it is leaking I would undo it and inspect it. if you don't see anything abnormal, anything cracked, dirty, or wrong, retighten it. These are steel fittings, not brass or copper and they require a good bit of tightening to deform the parts so they will seal again. You have to hear it almost squeak when you get it really tight! Takes a bit of strength and good tools so they won't slip.

If the line was just installed and now leaking the issue is a burr on the line end or the compression sleeve isn't correct. This compresses the line and isn't removable. Inspection will tell you to replace.

The line is the original, but what would I need to look for upon inspection? If it's dirty, should it be cleaned? What methods should I use?

Thanks

Look for splits, cracks, burrs, or distortions. A small wire brush should clean it up.
