View Full Version : General What to use to clean off rust spots on stainless steel?

hey guys,

what do you recommend as to removing the rusty brown spots on the stainless steel panels? ive heard of a scotch brite pad? what do you guys recommend?

Personally for more troublesome spots I use sandpaper, followed by a cleaning of acetone or isopropyl, then a blending pad followed by isopropyl.

Start with Barkeeper Friend cleanser, that's the least invasive and if it works you don't have to mess with sandpaper etc.

That can happen when wet leaves fall on the car and then dry out. It leaves behind stains. Try the least invasive things you can but you will probably wind up going to the sandpaper. 80# and then Scotch-Brite pads. Make sure you keep the grain straight. If it is on the hood use the least pressure you can to avoid getting the dreaded X pattern.

ok so i use 80 GRIT coarse sanding paper? followed by scotch brite thanks.
