Hi,
The DeLorean being sold here shows underside pics near the end of the picture collection.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DeLorean-DMC-DELOREAN-/191750703727?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ca53b8a6f:g:za8AAOSwwE5WXe-i&item=191750703727
Is that underside considered too rusty to be reliable? Are problems imminent?
Just curious. It seems like a good deal otherwise.

I can't tell you enough how bad of an idea this car is. Stay very far away if at all possible.

It looks like an undercoated car. Make it really hard to see the frame condition from photos.

Funny thing is that the car is really in Canada. Interesting that he doesn't mention that.

Looks less rusty than my car's underside. But Dave has a point that it looks under latex and that can hide the rusty frame.
Josh, what is so bad about this particular car? Looks pretty nice.

Me thinks the OHIO plates spell some inside info is in Josh's possession....

Doesn't matter now. Someone pulled the trigger.... They are about to be in for one wild ride.

I think he was just using the turn of phrase, rather than being literal. Though from the pictures it does look like the front-end recall hasn't been completed, and I find that a good indicator on how this car may have been looked after...

I had inspected this car at one point and the cancer is severe. Terminal.

Wow, just 8 cars after mine. I couldn't tell anything from the pics but will take Josh's word. Yikes!

It's really tough to tell how rusty the frame is from the photos...based on Josh's comments revealing the actual condition this is another prime example of just how important it is to see a DeLorean in person before buying it. I feel bad for whoever just spent $24,5000 on this car with a rotted frame underneath.
In my search before becoming an owner I was especially cautious of cars with undercoated frames.... I remember looking at one car in Michigan where rust had bubbled through the undercoat and the owner just kept reapplying layers of undercoat over the rust. It looks like this car may have similar issues where there are a few touch ups hiding all the rust below.
This photo in particular shows the suspension parts looking much blacker than the frame itself which to me seems like someone loaded up on more undercoating once it started rusting.

The amount of rust on the rock screen also raises a red flag.
I wonder if we'll see the new owner of this car here on the forum in the near future.
EDIT: For future reference, I didn't see the VIN posted here anywhere. According to the auction it is 05490

Always assembling cars for sale and or consignment. One auto low mile car going through daily driver process left currently. Other auto finished is under contract for sale with a third becoming available on consignment shortly.

While it looks decent with the undercoating, I'm betting this is the hint of what Josh is referring to. I'd imagine a better view of that front section shows major cancer.
I also feel for whoever bought this for 24.5K!

You can see a lot of the problems with the rust from that picture too. The first thing is the unprotected hardware. Look at the amount of rust coming off of those bolts. Something like that is going to show you just how harsh of an environment this car has been in. Granted now in all fairness this car seems to have a problem with it's impact absorbers sponging up all the excess water and making the problem worse in some areas. But the clues still remain.
The second is on the chassis itself. Now this can *sometimes* be a challenge with certain vehicles that do have textured bottoms. Which is why you should become at least reasonably knowledgeable about whatever vehicle you're wanting to buy. But on this car you can see that extreme texture of where the rust is bubbling and deforming the surface. When you start seeing both types of these problems, you know that you've got other serious issues lying in wait in those hard to reach areas that never wash out.
