I was under my BMW X3 at the weekend and noticed that they had these warning labels on their control arms, and thought that they would be a great addition to our LCAs to deter tow truck drivers from attaching to them.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a source for them yet. Part number seems to be 1 097 184. Anyone have an internal BMW source?

You don't have to buy that exact label. If you take a picture of it you can probably have the label made anywhere. Or you can just whip one up on yor computer. The main problem though is by the time he sees the label he has already hooked the lower control arm.

Bmw mechanic here, it appears that the label is not available separate like most other warning labels, not im my database atleast. The Lca on those cars are considered to be consumables so there is no need to replace just the decal because by the time it wears out,you probably need new ball joints and bushings.

I once had a guy try to put a strap around my steering rack. However I'm not sure he would have been smart enough to read a label anyway...
