Driver door handle broke

I'm guessing it was inevitable that the plastic door handle on the outside would eventually give out. I ordered some of the upgraded metal ones- I assume there's a thread on how to replace it somewhere?

Bigger problem is that they are generally on back order everywhere.

But when you find one. . . .

Take off upper door panel.
Peel back the door liner.
Remove two 10mm nuts on the inside and remove the handle assembly from the outside.
Disconnect cable from the assembly
Attach cable to the new one
Reinstall handle (tape nuts into socket if necessary)
Adjust cable to as little slop as possible. Test the door operation with the window open until you are sure it works properly.

Step two is buy yourself a set of "Wings Aloft" door launchers and never touch the door handles again.

If you don't have a 1/4" socket and extension, get one because it's much more difficult with a 3/8". Probably should tape the inside edges of the door, very easy to cut a knuckle on those.

Thanks guys! Next big purchase would be an updated door lock module, then a wings aloft. And hopefully the handles aren't on back order- can't be parking at work out in the rain with my driver window down...

Put a glob of bearing grease inside of the socket for both removal and installation to hold the nut in place.. You'll never worry about losing the nut in the door.
