Testing the average age of the forum members here.

One of teenage musical idols died last night - Lemmy from Motorhead. Admittedly, it is amazing that he reached the age of 70 given the life he lead. It was just in August that he switched from rum and coke to vodka and orange "for his health"

Why do I mention this on a DeLorean forum - well, he sang Silver Machine from his time in Hawkwind - a song that should be on everyone's "what do I play in my DeLorean" playlist

In all it's 70s space rock glory:

Everyone thought it would be all the drugs & alcohol, but it was cancer that got him. :(

I never realized until the other day when he died, that Lemmy was in Hawkwind. He was a true rocker for sure, and he lived the wild life filled with drugs and booze. This will sound cold and callous, but given his lifestyle, it is a wonder he lasted so long.

Everyone assumed that he, and Keith Richards, were immortal ;)

He certainly fulfilled his mantra
“If you're going to be a fucking rock star go be one. People don't want to see the guy next door on stage; they want to see a being from another planet. You want to see somebody you'd never meet in ordinary life.”
