After installing a new fuel pump I have a constant loud buzzing while the car is running. Is this from the hoses laying against the fiberglass body? I never had the issue before.

Without knowing the source or brand/type of pump I'll venture a guess that the pump is too low in the tank or the pickup hose is otherwise twisted or distorted causing a restriction. That's the first thing I'd check anyway.

The pump is from DMC.

Is it the new combo unit?

No it's not. It's just the pump.

Then my original reply still stands. Check pump positioning.

Are you still using the original baffle? If not and are using the "tuna can" type, if it is not hooked up properly you can turn the bottom of the tank into a drum and make a lot of noise. Like Rob said, you probably did not install the pump properly and now it is noisy. Refer to 2-1-0 in the Parts manual and ST-30-12/81 in the Service Bulletins for proper installation.

I think Rob is right. I probably need to slightly raise the pump. When we replaced the pump the other day We had to replace the round plastic pickup fuel screen as it was starting to crack. I replaced it with a sock-like filter. There is only about 2' of rubber hose going directly to the bottom that is connected to the sock.

Regarding the baffle - a few years ago I changed the configuration of the baffle set up. The basket (tuna can shaped plastic thing) rests directly below the pump. The fuel sock rests inside of that. I'll try raising the pump slightly to see if it makes a difference. Do you think the fuel hoses going to the engine might be pressed against the fiberglass body might be making the noise?

If that 2" hose is a straight piece then it is kinked on the bottom of the tank. You have less than an inch before the hose makes a 90 degree bend and only a molded hose can do that properly. I recommend retaining the stock baffle assembly and leaving the "tuna can" for holding cat food as it serves that function much better than as a proper tank baffle.
Yes the upper hoses should also be checked and insulated from the body if you determine them to be part of the problem but it sounds like the main problem is your current modified pickup hose configeration.
