View Full Version : Fuel Filter Leaking

So I decided while I was replacing all of the fuel injection lines, including the one from the top of the fuel filter, I would replace the fuel filter. Sounds simple. It is until you cannot get the solid steel fuel line from up front and goes into the 90 degree fitting at the bottom of the fuel filter from leaking. I took it back apart and it looks like the end of the tube is good but the ferrule looks like it has notches in it.

What seals - the tube end or the ferrule?

Should I cut the line and replace the ferrule? Hack saw will work? Will the slightly shorter line be an issue?

Is there a good safe way to use a rubber line from the steel tube to the filter bottom?

Thanks for the help and advice as always!

If you decide to replace it, use a pipe cutter instead of a hack-saw. It'll be a much cleaner (and easier) cut.

So I searched past posts and found one dealing with just this very thing. I put a few wraps of Teflon tape around the treads, made sure the tube and 90 degree fitting were square and tightened the crap out of it. No more leaks.
