Reattaching rubbing strips

Can someone recommend what to use to reattach a piece of rubbing strip? I was thinking double sided tape but not sure it would be strong enough to stay adhered in the long run.

I had to buy some industrial strength double sided tape made by 3M (it has the red peel-off side) and they've been perfect for about three years. The only thing is that you have to remove the old tape on the strips and cut the new tape to fit. A bit labor intensive but it works perfectly.
