What do you guys think? – Which one is better or does it matter? If a person got the DMC digital item – they could also get the door on me opener which seems to make it similar to wings a loft. Is one more reliable than the other or what are other reasons to choose one over the other? And what is the install like? Thanks guys

Digital door lock module and the Wings-a-Loft system are not the same. The digital door lock module just replaces the standard door lock module with some updated features. The Wings-a-Loft system allows for remote door opening through use of actuators in the door, not just keyless entry. You can add that system on to the digital door lock module, but there functions are completely different.

Does the Wings-a-Loft system unlock the doors?

Yes it does.
Wings-A-Loft comes with a lot of options besides just the door openers and remote locks. You can add an alarm system, remote trunk release, and battery cut-off, just to name a few. I went with the option that included the alarm and trunk release, it's nice not having to worry about pulling too hard on the latch and breaking the cable.

So the wings a loft does everything the other one does and more correct? Or would someone clarify what the digital unit does over wings a loft? Thanks

The Wings-A-Loft still needs a door lock module to work (either the digital version or the original.) The Wings-A-Loft wires into the Door Lock Module and therefore can provide the necessary triggers when the remote keyfob is pushed to lock or unlock.

My understanding is that the digital unit from DMCH replaces the original module and allows you use their remote locking system. Wings-A-Loft locks/unlocks/opens the doors and depending on which version you buy, comes programmed with various other options.

How big of a project is installing either option?

My understanding is that the digital unit from DMCH just allows you to remotely lock and unlock your doors, nothing more. Wings-A-Loft locks/unlocks/opens the doors and depending on which version you buy, comes programmed with a lot more options. One isn't necessarily better than the other, it just depends on what you want.
The digital door lock unit is nothing more than an updated door lock control unit with a diagnostic system built in. It's actually quite a good unit, mine has been going strong for the last 10 years. It will not remotely do anything, it is a DMCH upgraded replacement part(unless they have changed it since 2006). The wings-A-Loft includes a transmitter and will lock/unlock drros as well as remotely open them(either drivers or passenger or driver or both depending on how you decide to wire it up) This system can also be upgraded to remote trunk access, alarm, etc.
Another good relacement is the door lock actuators. The wings aloft includes 2, but I would just opt for all 4 to replace the solenoids as well.
How big of a project is installing either option?
The door lock unit is a plug and play replacement and a few mounting screws. The wings aloft is straightforward, but pretty intensive. Plan on at least 6 hours, but well worth it.

The door lock module just replaces your original, so just a few minutes. The Wings-a-Loft system is more involved as you have to take off your door panels and install parts and wire up things. From what I've seen, the instructions are very thorough. Probably take half a day to a day, depending on experience.

What I meant to say was upgrading to the digital door lock unit, allows you to install Houston's remote door lock system. I noticed my original post missed that point, so I went back and edited it.
Agree with the actuators, ended up replacing the solenoids with them when I had Wings-A-Loft installed.
